Details
of Common Entrance Test (CET)
This information is as per this year's notification
by Directorate of Technical Education. For any clarifications check the
CET Brochure or contact Directorate of Technical Education.
The CET, the GD and the PI are administered by
the CA (Competent Authority), on its own or in collaboration with or through
a professional agency with proven track record of its competence and experience
in such process of personnel selection through competitive examinations.
The
details of CET are as under :

The CET would be of 2½ (Two and a half ) hours
duration and would have a maximum of 200 marks.

The CET would have multiple choice objective
type questions with no negative marking.
-
There would be no verification of marks or revaluation
of answer sheets of the CET.
-
The marks at the CET would be considered for
admission during the current academic year only and would not be allowed
to be carried forward to next year.

The CET has questions in the area of:
-- Verbal Ability.
-- Reading Comprehension.
-- Quantitative Aptitude.
-- Logical/Abstract Reasoning.
The
Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) :
-
Each of the candidates appearing for the CET
would be eligible for the GD and PI.
-
The batch number, date, time and venue for the
GD and PI will be indicated on the common admit card for CET and GD
and PI.

Each of the candidates appearing for the GD and
PI would have to pay as fees a sum of Rs.400/- (Rupees Four Hundred
only) to the centre Co-ordinator / Representative of Competent Authority
at the chosen centre at the time of GD and PI, by the crossed Demand
Craft in favor of The Joint Director Of Technical Education, payable
at places indicated in the CET Brochure.
Distribution
of Marks :
The following are the head wise distribution of
the total marks of 240, on the basis of which the final Universitywise
/ Categorywise/ State level Merit list is drawn.

The Past Academic Record
(PAR) of a candidate is evaluated as shown below :
60% and above but less than 75% marks at
the SSCE or equivalent examination

Qualifying Examination And
Eligibility :
Appeared at the final year examination of a post
10+2 course of minimum three years duration leading to an award of a Bachelor's
Degree, in any discipline of a statutory university in India (so recognized
by the Association of Indian Universities).
or
A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's Degree examination with minimum
50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of candidate domiciled in Maharashtra
State and belonging to the reserved categories).
or
Passed with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate (45%
in case of backward class candidates from Maharashtra State only) or Appeared
at an examination considered equivalent thereto, would be treated as eligible
for Common Entrance Test (CET).
Selection Basis :
-
A candidate should fulfill the minimum eligibility
conditions as mentioned above.

He/She must have appeared for the CET, GD and
PI.
-
He/She must figure in the merit list prepared
on the basis of aggregate marks scored by them in the CET, GD and
PI and the marks awarded to them for their Past Academic Record (PAR)
and the Work Experience (WE).

The candidates shall be selected for the admissions
and the admissions shall be made strictly on the basis of their ranks
in the relevant merit list (i.e. category wise/ university wise/ state
merit list/ merit list for candidates outside Maharashtra) prepared
on the basis of the aggregate marks scored by them in the CET, GD
and PI and the marks awarded to them for their Past Academic Record
(PAR) and the Work Experience (WE) as mentioned above and the availability
of the seats in various categories in various Institutes.
Note :
1. 50% of the sanctioned intake capacity will be
reserved belonging to minority communities, and the same will be filled
strictly on the basis of merit. However reservation does not apply to
the seats allocable to the candidates passing their qualifying examination
from a statutory university located outside Maharashtra.
2. 50% of the sanctioned intake capacity will be
merit seats and the balance will be payment seats. However seats allocable
to candidates passing their qualifying examination from a statutory university
located outside Maharashtra fall entirely in the payment category.
3. Tuition fees for merit and payments seats are
Rs.8000/- p.a. and Rs.24000/- p.a. respectively. Apart from tuition fees,
MGM IMSR is entitled to charge ancillary fees for Library, Computer Facilities,
other activities etc, up to a university prescribed limit.
